Admirals: Cards, XP, and Upgrades ⚓

Hello, dear Captains!

Wondering how to upgrade your Admirals or what Admiral XP is used for? Here’s a simple guide to help you prepare them for their next voyage!

Tokens, Cards, and Admiral XP — what’s the difference?

Each has a different purpose:

  • Admiral Tokens are used to obtain Admiral Cards.

  • Admiral Cards unlock upgrades for the corresponding Admiral. The progress bar beneath each Admiral shows how many cards you have and how many are required.

  • Admiral XP is spent to complete an available upgrade. Higher upgrades require more XP.

Collecting XP or sending an Admiral on voyages does not automatically upgrade them. You need the required cards, enough Admiral XP, and must complete the upgrade yourself.

How do I upgrade an Admiral?

  1. Check that you have enough cards and Admiral XP for the upgrade.

  2. If the Admiral is assigned to a ship, wait for it to return to your home port and collect its cargo.

  3. Open the Admiral’s details and complete the upgrade before sending the ship out again.

An Admiral who is not assigned to a ship can also be upgraded, provided you meet the requirements.

What does “Collect cargo to rank up” mean?

This message means you need to unload the ship your Admiral is assigned to. You do not need to collect a particular resource or complete more voyages. Once the ship has returned, collect its cargo and try upgrading again.

Does Admiral XP take up warehouse space?

No! Admiral XP does not use your warehouse capacity, so you can save it for future upgrades without reducing your storage space for materials.

Why did I receive Admiral XP instead of a card?

When you have reached the card limit for an Admiral, additional cards for that Admiral are converted into Admiral XP. This XP can then help you upgrade your Admirals.
